Fight For Center Stage

A recently released article in Rolling Stone Magazine (June 2007) has caused an exasperated uproar within the record business, provoking panic and mayhem. According to a study done by Brian Hiatt and Evan Serpick, journalists for the magazine, there has been a steady decline in record sales since the start of the new millennium. Record chains such as Tower Records have gone out of business, and others are filing for bankruptcy. This is all due in part to the increasing purchase of music online rather than from the record stores. Everyone, manager and band member alike, has felt the harshness of this fatal blow. Many are worried that the industry may not be able to bounce back from this decline, while others are hoping for a change. The outcome of this seemingly unending battle will only be revealed in the years to come.
