I've been thinking about the past a lot lately. There are so many things I miss that have changed over the course of a couple of years, and I just feel the need to reminisce on some of them. They are happy memories that I've stored away, and thinking about them makes me smile. Well, here we go!

I remember crazy times at the barn, riding double bareback and playing tag, hiding behind the trailers to get away. The games were never planned, they just sort of happened...
Fun times at restaurants, being the loudest group there and telling jokes that would keep everyone laughing for hours.
I miss hanging out in the wee hours of the morning, toilet papering people's houses, dressing like thugs, and laughing as we acted like we knew nothing about it the next day. I miss walking around late at night with melting cotton candy =D and stupid dares that we would never forget.
I miss late night sessions where we would sit for hours, talking about nothing imparticular and making jokes, even though we were freezing cold in the nighttime air.
I miss being so close to the people around me that I could finish their sentence...
I miss rolling down steep hills and laughing until I cried...

There are so many things that I can only recall a few, but they are all worth while. They are priceless memories, and I hope that I may never forget them.

Off the Deep end

Somewhere in my heart I have developed this feeling of disgust. Not for anything you would know to be obvious, but for something much deeper than that.

Hypocrisy is way overrated.

Say one thing and do another. It is a vicious cycle that is seen every day. How horrid a thing to do, preach but don't pray. Now, I'm not saying that it has anything to do with religion, that's just an example, but it does has to do with everyday life. People act as if things don't matter, then they complain about it later. You wouldn't complain if you didn't care... I wouldn't complain if I didn't care... We deny the facts because we don't want to look weak; we don't want to seem as if we have flaws. Everyone has flaws, no matter how big or small. It's undeniable.

Human nature is a fascinating thing.

Hopefully my feeling of disgust will subside, but for now, I remain dormant.

Sweet adieus and good luck with all,

Hey all! Well, I haven't blogged in a while so I thought I'd catch you up on things!

Anyway, no more drama for quite some time now, so thank god, because all of my blogs were completely serious at that time... I do like them though! It's fun to experiment with different types of language. I like to write in old english style a lot, but unfortunately my teachers do not appreciate it.

Either way, there is a Howlers show tomorrow, or should I say today considering it's 12:13am, at Elkins Lodge. Show up! They are amazing and they put on a fantastic show!

My time at the Glasshouse was all too entertaining. We danced to some strangely spectacular music from DJ Lance Rock and fell in love with the interesting characters that came onto the stage. Hunter Revenge was amazing! Fifth show of the very short tour and it was a blast! Had a discussion with the lead vocals later about everything from bleaching hair to a lack of eyeballs. (I would advise you not ask. haha!)

For CoHi kids and others who are interested, 30/60 is December 5th. Support drama! Not when other people start it, but the department. Thought I should mention that before anyone decides to climb up on their high horse. Either way, I'm sure you're bored with my ramblings by now so I leave you with an adieu.

Goodnight and goodluck!

Talk About Inconvenient Truths...

In light of recent events I have been pondering the difference between acquaintences, friends, and other categories I would rather not discuss at this point in time. This whole building an army business is getting too old. Immaturity seems to be bliss for now, but I guess immaturity and ignorance must go hand in hand somehow. Who is to blame? I refer to The Crucible for an answer. Everyone, simply everyone. Who will be the judge? Who the jury? Seems there are few put up on the witness stand...
Don't burn your bridges yet. It won't be helpful for the future. You may have won the battle, but karma will win the war. If you find these separate statements to be gibberish, you may want to read and re-read again for clarification. This is not meant to do harm, just a simple statement, for karma works for and against everyone, without bias.
Nobody gives a shred of truth about anything anymore. It is all overly dramatic instigation, provoked by nothing but misunderstood thoughtlessness. On the other hand, it shows true character, and gives something to ponder. Everyone is at fault, everyone is to blame, nobody's slate is clean, not even the publisher of this solemn sermon (not to be taken literally, for all you religious folk out there). We should remember this for future reference, and never forget what the past has given us.

Still surprisingly cheerful after all this madness,

What Some Will Dare to Find

He's a simple man, a man not so much concerned about himself as he is about those around him. He is not bold, not even slightly courageous, in fact. His posture is hunched, as if he cannot help but slouch, and he creeps through life as quietly as mice beneath the floorboards.
He is kind, one of the most generous human beings to live here so long, but he is nameless... unknown to any random passerby that even dares to glance upon his worn, old face, creased with years of attempts to please those he cared for most.
He is grand. His memory has not yet faded and his heart has not yet grown cold. Upon his shoulders lies the weight of the world, and upon his mind weighs all evil that has dared to cross his path. Yet, he does not falter; he does not speak a word of hatred; he does not fear in life what he does not understand.

A bit More Solemn Than Usual

The past few days have surely put a dent in my somewhat monotonous life cycle, that of which I am partly thankful for, although I wish they could have been about something a bit less bitter. It seems as if the year has already been too harsh upon our poor souls, although I do believe that once we figure out the "ins and outs" (not referring to the food company) of this new lifestyle things will improve. For now I am content with just stepping back and observing my everyday education as well as those around me. I believe this will do me some good, but one never knows what interesting situations may arise. Seeing that I've already given up eight of my nine lives in the past week and a half, I'm quite intent on taking the analytical part and just letting the world slowly pass by for about a day. It gives me time for inquiry and relaxation, which I think we all should do and have at some point or another in our daily efforts. Perhaps it will even give me a better look at myself...

Perspectives on Little Red Riding Hood

Read and enjoy! I hope it interests you as much as it interests me!

You have read the story, and you probably know it well. The story of Little Red Riding Hood, the Wolf, and her grandmother. Well, thanks to my current english teacher, I have obtained a whole new perspective on the subject of this story. Let's start with the jist of things.

Ok, so we know this much. Little Red Riding Hood goes to take a basket to her sick grandmother for a nice lunch, and her mother tells her not to "dilly dally" so to speak, or talk to strangers. So she goes out into the woods and starts to pick flowers, and as she does this, the wolf slowly creeps up on her. When he confronts her they say a few words and then she is once again on her way. As she takes the path to her grandmother's house, the wolf takes a shortcut, eats the grandmother, and poses as her. Little Red Riding Hood knocks on the door, we go through the big eyes, big teeth situation. Then, just as the wolf is about to scarf down our poor little heroin, a woodsman shows up and saves both Little Red and her grandmother.

If we were young, we would take this as the "Don't talk to strangers" lecture, but there are many perspectives on the story. Please note: I am not trying to make anyone believe anything about the story. I am merely presenting different perspectives that can be taken on what, to me, is a very intriguing subject.

Racism:
The "colors" of the characters can be taken into account as one perspective. The wolf is usually pictured as black, Little Red Riding Hood is red, and the woodsman is considered white. This story can be construed as a racist statement simply because of the colors of the characters. The wolf is the attacker, the woodsman is the savior. The wolf is normally pictured as black, while the woodsman is normally pictured as white. In taking a racial perspective, what is the outcome? See any connections yet? I thought so. This is not to say that it is a story about that, but it does prove a point.

Feminism:
The victim in the story is, of course, Little Red and also her grandmother. This seems to be a "damsel in distress" story. Of course, the woodsman is the brave hero that saves the day in the end. Watch any old west movies lately? Seems familiar enough.

Archetypal:
Of course, you could look at Little Red Riding Hood as life. There are many different temptations along the road of life; all kinds of wolfs waiting to drag you into a situation that could be potentially dangerous. But it is so important that no matter what dangers drag you down that dark tunnel, you should get back on the path of life and keep going. Something good may come in the end.

Once again, I urge you to have an open mind about this subject. These ideas were presented to me, and I thought that it was very interesting that in one story there could be so many meanings and so many different perspectives. I did not write this to offend anyone, but wrote it in hopes that you would find the analysis on a short, childhood story as interesting as I did. I would love to hear your thoughts, and if you think any differently about any of the subjects. I would also like to know if you have your own perspective, because there are many. Thank you for taking the time to read over the three perspectives that we were shown that really made an impact on me.

LA tips and tricks

Every year there is a question of how to prepare for Warped Tour from those who have never gone before. Well, here are some tips for those of you who are going to be going to the second half of the tour this year.

1. Bring lots of money! You will definitely need it, especially since water has reached the price of at least $3.

2. Stay hydrated. It is so important to keep hydrated during the hot summer day. Drink water and pour it on your body to keep cool.

3. Do not wear white or layers of clothing. White will get dirty and layers will make you hotter than ever.

4. Please do not wear a dress or a skirt. This is especially for those who like to go crowd surfing. I think you catch my drift...

5. Wear shoes that will protect your feet. There is a good chance you will get stepped on, and you won't want to be wearing sandals or flats when that happens.

6. Have fun! This is Warped Tour! It is one of the biggest festivals of the year, so enjoy it!

Hope that these tips help those of you who are new to the Warped scene. Remember to have fun!

Fight For Center Stage

A recently released article in Rolling Stone Magazine (June 2007) has caused an exasperated uproar within the record business, provoking panic and mayhem. According to a study done by Brian Hiatt and Evan Serpick, journalists for the magazine, there has been a steady decline in record sales since the start of the new millennium. Record chains such as Tower Records have gone out of business, and others are filing for bankruptcy. This is all due in part to the increasing purchase of music online rather than from the record stores. Everyone, manager and band member alike, has felt the harshness of this fatal blow. Many are worried that the industry may not be able to bounce back from this decline, while others are hoping for a change. The outcome of this seemingly unending battle will only be revealed in the years to come.

Not Going To Weenie Roast?

Hello again!

For all of the unfortunate people out there *aka me* that did not get tickets for Weenie Roast yet, tomorrow KROQ will be giving out tickets every 1/2 hour!! Yes, you still have a chance to get pit tickets for the Weenie Roast y Fiesta! But, if you still don't, there is an alternative!

May 19, 2007
Rhino Records in Claremont
The Used is having a signing!
It should be fun considering Bert is one of the most crazy people out there...
so, don't fret if you don't win, there is always something else you can do!

And for those of you who do not live in California, I would suggest hanging out with some of your amigos =]

there is still hope!

I probably called more than 1,000 times...

Ok, if you listen to KROQ you know how hard it was to get Weenie Roast tickets this weekend... I was one of the unfortunate ones... I called all weekend, but alas, I will not be joining you on the 19th. So, have a good time all, see as many bands as you can *cough* Bad Religion *cough* Social D*cough* and give the newer bands a try to (Silversun Pickups, Interpol, etc.)! Cheers!

moving on...

From the looks of the trailers, Spider-Man 3 looked as if it would be the biggest box office hit of the year, and although it was not a bad movie, many fans may have been disappointed by the lack of excitement in the movie. Yes, the villains were as creepy and sneaky as ever, but the movie was somewhat predictable... Harry trys to get back at Spider-Man, Sand Man and Venom put up a good fight, and MJ gets captured again. Yet, the special effects were good, and Spider-Man 3 wraps up 1 and 2 nicely. Not bad for a sequel!

Weenie Roast y Fiesta

It's that time of year again! Yes, the KROQ Weenie Roast y Fiesta is coming to ya soon! Listen, there are going to be so many great bands there, you'll just have to go... Linkin Park, 30 Seconds To Mars, BAD RELIGION (hella!), Tiger Army, Interpol, Plain White T's, and more!
Tickets go on sale on Cinco de Mayo, so be on the lookout. They tend to sell out fast, so I would suggest getting on early and staying on all day... It's going to be worth your while!

Also, Bamboozle in NJ is coming up quick! Buy tickets, because it's going to be a good show.

Let's not forget Warped Tour either... As school is coming to a close we must all get ready for the madness of what we know as Warped. For all you first timers, bring lots of water and money, because you'll be needing both.

Happy Concert-going! I'll see you on the scene!

Disturbia

Movie review 1 (yay!) :

Well, I went to see Disturbia today and I must say, it was quite good! I wasn't expecting much, but as the plot began to unfold I got more and more into the movie. If you liked Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window, then you will definitely enjoy Disturbia. It is an epic story of a boy named Kale who is put on house arrest, and out of boredom, starts to spy on his neighbors. When he begins to suspect one of them is a murderer, things start to spin out of control. It is an action packed thriller that you just have to see.

what!?

Hello! This is my first blog here, so I thought I'd let you know what I would be writing about =]
I'll be writing about the way I see things, music, tv, give updates on certain events, and anything in between. Anything really... I'll post as often as I can get on and hopefully keep you updated on many things. Might be a bit slow in the beginning, but I'll figure something out...

thinking of future posts
